Meal Planning for a family of 4

As a parent I often worry about what I'm feeding my children. Is it enough? Can I make it more healthier? Am I giving them a good range of vegetables?

These are all questions that I seem to ask myself daily. Speaking to friends, they have the same concerns. There are 2 ways I put my mind to rest; meal planning and looking at others meal plans, so I wanted to share ours with you.

Below is a selection of meal plans that we have recently used. Monday night for us is pasta night, it's the night of rest after a busy day, Thursday we visit family so this will depends on who's turn it is to buy.

Week 1
Breakfast - toast with a variety of spreads, mini weatabix cereal or fruit.
Lunch - the girls have cheese cubes, crackers, cucumber, peppers, carrots, piece of fruit and occasionally a treat like crisps. For myself I have a salad made of rocket, cherry tomatoes, feta, croutons and a balsamic glaze.
Monday - 4 cheese Tortiloni and garlic bread.
Tuesday - Red potato, Apple and sausage bake. (Sage and cranberry)
Wednesday - Salmon, potatoes and vegetables.
Thursday - Pizza and salad.
Friday - Chorizo and potato bake. (cheese and bacon)
Saturday - Take away/Treat.
Sunday - Ratatouille.

Week 2
Breakfast - toast with a variety of spreads, mini weatabix cereal or fruit.
Lunch - the girls have cheese cubes, crackers, cucumber, peppers, carrots, piece of fruit and occasionally a treat like crisps. For myself I have a salad made of rocket, cherry tomatoes, feta, croutons and a balsamic glaze.
Monday - Chicken korma and rice.
Tuesday - Spinach & Ricotta Tortiloni.
Wednesday - Seafood Paella.
Thursday - Chicken and Salad wraps.
Friday - Mustard toad in the hole with onion gravy.
Saturday - Butternut squash pasta bake.
Sunday - Button mushroom and Brie filled jacket potatoes.

Week 3
Breakfast - toast with a variety of spreads, mini weatabix cereal or fruit.
Lunch - the girls have cheese cubes, crackers, cucumber, peppers, carrots, piece of fruit and occasionally a treat like crisps. For myself I have a salad made of rocket, cherry tomatoes, feta, croutons and a balsamic glaze.
Monday - Tomato and basil Tortiloni and garlic bread.
Tuesday - Corned beef hash.
Wednesday - Hunters chicken with roast potatoes and vegetables.
Thursday - Chicken casserole.
Friday - Soup and crusty bread.
Saturday - Lasagna and chips.
Sunday - Chicken, Fenel and thyme casserole.

Week 4
Breakfast - toast with a variety of spreads, mini weatabix cereal or fruit.
Lunch - the girls have cheese cubes, crackers, cucumber, peppers, carrots, piece of fruit and occasionally a treat like crisps. For myself I have a salad made of rocket, cherry tomatoes, feta, croutons and a balsamic glaze.
Monday - Chicken and Bacon Tortiloni.
Tuesday - Red pepper risotto.
Wednesday - Witches stew. (Bacon, sausage, tomatoes and baked beans with a crusty roll)
Thursday - Patsa Bake.
Friday - Sausage casserole.
Saturday - Paprika chicken, oregano potatoes and a mixed lead salad.
Sunday - Prawn and spring onion topped jacket potatoes.

Occasional we will have a pudding (Jelly, Icecream or something like a crumble and custard) and of course as the weather changes so do our menus, we have bbqs and prawn salads, but that gives you a rough idea of what we eat.
