Bottomless Sundays at Station Tavern Cambridge

by - 06:00:00

Yesterday we visited the Station Tavern in Cambridge as we were invited to try their Bottomless Sundays. As a family with young children, its unusual for us to be able to go out, enjoy a lunch and have a drink too, so we rushed at the chance to try something new.

Bottomless Sundays are 11am-4pm, every week. Diners can tuck into a never-ending (and they really do mean that) stream of Yorkshire puddings when ordering one of the irresistible roasts from Cambridge’s latest pub. An inviting choice of sirloin of beef, lemon and thyme chicken, cider glazed pork belly, vegetarian wellington or even a chef’s mixed roast means there is something to excite everyone. Each dish is served with a host of perfectly prepared trimmings including cauliflower cheese, smashed carrots and swede, hispi cabbage, delightfully crispy goose fat potatoes, gravy and not forgetting, the huge Yorkshire puddings!

The 'bottomless' part of the Sundays refers to the unlimited amount of Yorkshire puddings and Bloody Marys available for you to consume.

As we don't drink very often we had no idea how to make a Bloody Mary, but needn't have worried. The Station Taven's staff were very friendly and on hand at the 'Build your own Bloody Mary Station' to guide you though the steps to make the perfect tasting and Instagramable drink. The self service bar is kitted out with all the ingredients and toppings you can think of, from lemon, lime and salt, to celery, bacon and rosemary. There is something for everyone. (Even hubby and the kids joined in with an alcohol-free version).

The roasts were delicious and came with plenty of extra large Yorkshires, which were the perfect balance of crispy and soft and staff were always on hand to grab you more.  The vegetables complimented the meat fully and the whole plate was full of flavour. A tip from us, you must order the stuffing balls, they were to die for.

We were very impressed with the staff. They were extremely attentive and thoughtful, offering the girls more colouring sheets to keep them happy. 10 parenting points from us

So go eat, drink and B.Mary at the Station Tavern’s new Sunday sessions. Don't forget to head on over to our Instagram: Mummies Waiting to check out more snaps from our visit.
