What level meal plan should I book?

by - 06:00:00

There are so many options when you are trying to choose what level of meal plan to book for Disneyland Paris (and also whether you should go full-board of half board). Some people will tell you it's too much food and others will tell you that you should never go premium. So what really is the best option for you and your family?

Don't forget to check the tips at the bottom of this post to really get the best value from your plan.

Breakfast

As mentioned bellow, all meal plans give you access to 1 of 2 breakfasts (depending on whether you paid for your plan or if it was part of the deal), either a buffet with options including - a hot buffet, pastries, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and juice or Counter service - where you can choose from pastries, a hot beverage and juice at selected restaurants in and around the parks.

Half Board

Disney's half board meal plan gives you access to breakfast as well as 1 other meal during the day. This meal can be used at any time (lunch or dinner). Half board works well before if you plan later lunches/earlier dinners, you can easily get by with just a snack in the middle of the day, saving you money and time eating too.

Full Board

Disney's full board meal plan gives you access to breakfast and 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner), meaning you're likely won't need to worry about taking any money for extra snacks (just drinks). The one downside to this is you will spend a lot of time eating and waiting to get into restaurants so be prepared to ride less.

Standard

A choice of over 5 buffets, this plan is great for families with little/younger ones. Buffets mean no ordering and waiting for your food to come, a wide range of choice for the whole family and your under 3's will get their own plate, so you don't have to worry about feeding them too.

We recommend: Plaza Gardens, Restaurant des stars and Billy Bobs

Plus

Perfect for those who are looking for that extra little bit of magic and luxury, the plus meal plan gives you access to over 15 buffets and waiter service restaurants. With lots of wonderful choice including being pampered with a 3-course meal, this is great for families with older children or those who want a mix of buffets and sit-down meals.

We recommend: Bistro Chez Remy, Blue Lagoon (Captain Jacks) and The Steak House

Premium

If you are looking to dine with the characters at every meal you possibly can, then this is the plan for you. Giving you access to all 20+ restaurants, the Premium plan gets you up close and personal with some of Disney's most popular characters. SO whether you are looking to brunch with Pluto or dine with Cinderella, you're sure to have a blast.
Note: Unless you are planning to have a character meal every meal, this plan unlikely works out to save you money.

We recommend: Walts and Plaza Gardens Character Breakfast

Top Tips!

If you are looking to do a character meal but you don't want to pay for the top plan (or maybe you want to eat at all buffets except from 1 night) then fear not! Grab the level that best suits you and use your vouchers as 'cash' when you get there, topping up the extra money. This way you still have a meal plan and can save money too.

Restaurant reservations open 60 day in advance of your trip, so get booking asap. Things like character dining, will book up very fast!

Got a voucher left over because someone didn't use one? You can use it to grab a counter service meal, you'll lose money of the voucher, but losing €5 is better than €20!

At each restaurant there is a set meal plan for your vouchers (you can also find these online) just ignore the text at the top because a non-alcoholic drink is included with each meal.

You will get 1 or 2  voucher(s) for each night of your stay (not day) so a 4 night/5 day still will give you 4 dinner vouchers on half board and 8 on full board.

Under 3's eat free at Disneyland Paris, but beware by eating free, they mean eating off your plate, to get around this, head to the buffets where as its all you can eat, they are entitled to their own plate.
